Government of the Czech Republic Scholarships for Developing Countries

The Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships within the framework of its Foreign Development Assistance in support of the study of foreign nationals from developing countries at public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic.

ELIGIBILITY: 

Scholarships for the academic year 2021/2022 are offered to the citizens of the following countries:

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina,
  • Ethiopia,
  • Georgia,
  • Cambodia,
  • Moldova,
  • Ukraine,
  • and Zambia

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: 

These so called Government Scholarships are designed to cover the standard length of study:

1) in Bachelor/Master/Doctoral study programmes plus one-year preparatory course of the Czech language(which is combined with other field-specific training). Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates from upper secondary schools, or Bachelor’s/Master’s degree courses, as applicable, who can enrol only in study programmes in which instruction is given in the Czech language. Depending on the subject area, applicants are normally required to sit entrance examinations at the higher education institution concerned. Successful passing of entrance examinations constitutes a precondition for the scholarship award;

or

2) in follow-up Master study programmes or Doctoral study programmes. Government scholarships of this category are awarded to graduates of Bachelor or Master study programmes, respectively, who enrol in study programmes with instruction in the English language.

REQUIREMENTS:

Students may be admitted to a Bachelor’s and Master’s study programme in the CR only if they have completed full secondary general education or full secondary vocational education corresponding to secondary education with a school-leaving examination (“maturitní zkouška” in Czech) in the CR.

Students may be admitted to a Master’s study programme that follows up on a Bachelor’s study programme only if they have duly completed a Bachelor’s study programme. Students may be admitted to a Doctoral study programme only if they have duly completed a Master’s study programme.

A scholarship of the Government of the CR for studies in the English language may only be granted if the applicant has a good command of English. An applicant for a scholarship of the Government of the CR is obliged to sit an online entrance English language test in the course of his/her application submission.

SCHOLARSHIP VALUE: 

For the academic year, the scholarship amounts to CZK 9,000 per month for those who do not hold a Master’s degree or equivalent and CZK 9,500 per month for holders of a Master’s degree or equivalent. Scholarship-holders are exempted from tuition fees.

DURATION: Period of study

DEADLINE: 30 September of the year prior to the given academic year
