ELIGIBILITY:
1.1. Applicants are expected to have applied to enrol, or be planning to enrol, full-time in a thesis of 90-points or more1 as part of their first master’s degree at the University of Waikato.
1.2. Applicants must commence their thesis within six months of the application closing date.
1.3. The Scholarship is open to New Zealand citizens, permanent residents, and international students.
1.4. International students must have completed at least 120 points at any New Zealand University.
SCHOLARSHIP VALUE:
The Scholarship will have a value of $12,000 for 90 point theses and $15,000 for 120 point theses or more.
$4,500 is applied directly to the tuition fees for the research component of the master’s degree.
The remainder of the Scholarship will be paid in three instalments. i. The first instalment will be paid two weeks after enrolment in the thesis OR as soon as arrangements can be made after the awarding of the Scholarship should the recipient have already completed more than two weeks of study. ii. The second instalment will be paid after four months of study. iii. The final instalment will be paid after eight months of study
